2012 Australian Kangaroo-The world’s biggest, heaviest and most valuable gold coin

The Perth Mint of Australia produced the world’s biggest, heaviest and most valuable coin- the 2012 Australian Kangaroo. The coin weighs a massive one ton of 99.99% pure gold. The “Canadian Big Maple Leaf” was holding the Guinness world of record for the largest coin in the world and after the release of the “One Tonne” in 2012, the Guinness world of records recognized the “2012 Australian Kangaroo Tonne” as the “world’s largest coin”.

The Perth Mint’s dedicated staff took almost 12 months to complete this sunning piece of beauty and workmanship. The coin made of 99.99% pure gold and measures 80 cm wide and 13 cm thick. The coin was issued as an Australian legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The “One Tonne” Gold coin having a face value of 1 Million Australian dollars, but considering the precious metal value, this coin is the most valuable gold bullion coin in the world with an estimated value of more than 60 million Australian dollars!

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, the face value “1 MILLION DOLLARS” and the issuing country “AUSTRALIA”. The reverse design created by Dr. Stuart Devlin depicts a bounding red kangaroo surrounded by rays of sunlight. The inscription reads “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO 1 TONNE 9999 GOLD” and the issuing year “2012”.
